New Dan Deacon Video – ‘Paddling Ghost’

After his recent big band live experiments, Baltimore synth-nut and all-round electro-showman Dan Deacon has scaled things down with ‘Paddling Ghost’, from this year’s ‘Bromst’ album. The video may feature finger-puppets, but don’t be fooled by the childlike imagery – its narrative ambitions match the whirling heights of the music.

The eponymous finger-puppet ghost paddles out to a desert island, rides a finger-puppet horse then hooks up with a finger-puppet pirate skeleton before meeting up with a finger-puppet Mr Deacon and heading into outer space. It is, as we’ve come to expect from Dan Deacon, gloriously unhinged.
