New M.I.A. Track, ‘XXXO’ – What Do You Think?

It references iPhones and Twitter, and its title is basically textspeak – M.I.A.’s new tune, premiered yesterday on Radio 1, could be no more bleeding-edge and flawlessly now were it to be released via Foursquare and feature a freestyle verse about hung parliaments.

However, its self-evident awesomeness is timeless. ‘XXXO’ is a song about the impossibility of romance in a heartlessly technological world that pivots on a yawningly huge chorus hook. Here’s a radio rip:
