The NME Awards with Austin, Texas are over for another year. The O2 Academy Brixton was packed to the rafters last night (February 18) with music’s finest, from Kasabian to Viv Albertine, Jamie T to Run The Jewels and Suede to Royal Blood. On the red carpet we collared various artists, hearing from The Libertines and The Maccabees about their new upcoming albums, before Charli XCX, The Vaccines, Suede, Run The Jewels took to the stage to perform.
Foo Fighters were unable to attend the ceremony in person, but sent a video acceptance speech in which they thanked rock legend Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders for presenting them with the award before revealing their high-profile summer slot – the first of the three Glastonbury headliners to be made public. Ricky Gervais was also transmitted in to pay tribute to Suede, a band who he basically managed back in the day.
