It’s a real mixed bag of remixes for you this week. There’s reggae vibes, a whiff of ’80s house, cowbells and vocoders, and even a dash of Cheap Trick…

First up, Surfer Blood, who are releasing new single ‘Floating Vibes’ soon.
They’ve undergone the treatment of highly-hyped Brooklynites Twin Shadow, a new siging on Chris ‘Grizzly Bear’ Taylor’s label Terrible Records. They managed to simultaneously channel the spirit of Sting and the Far East in one mix.
Next, LA’s world collective Fool’s Gold have remixed Philadelphia retro-rockers Free Energy‘s ‘Bang Pop’, adding sound effect squeals straight out of Rollercoaster Tycoon and turning the anthem a little dreamier. It’s getting a split 7″ release with Local Natives on White Iris Records.
London’s industrial post punks Detachments meanwhile are releasing ‘Holiday Romance’ on September 6th, and this Cosmodelica mix takes the original for a trip round the Haçienda.
There’s another exclusive from Twizzle in the pack too. The DJ Naughty Dubstrumental mix of ‘LDN Sign’ should leave you in no doubt about where he comes from, or about his potential to hit the big time sometime soon. Electro-glitch trio and prolific remixers The Slips sent in this version of Ellie Goulding‘s ‘The Writer’. Their new EP ‘4 Elements To Make Good Music’ is out on Lucky Egg records on Sept 6th.
Finally, Belfast’s synth terrorists Not Squares see new single ‘Release The Bees’ (out this week on Pogo Records) remixed by The Fur and Fenech Soler’s ‘Lies’ is reworked by Hervé.
