She’s sold millions of records. She’s packed out stadiums all over the world. She’s won awards for acting on TV. Now, continuing her mission to prove there’s nothing she can’t do, Lady Gaga is becoming a movie star. She couldn’t have picked a more appropriate film in which to show her talents.

A Star Is Born is the story of fame won and lost. Four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a country music star whose fame is starting to dwindle. One night, in a bar, Jackson spots Ally (Gaga). Ally has an incredible voice but sings covers of other people’s songs because she’s too scared to sing her own. Taking a shine to Ally, Jackson encourages her to be the star he knows she should be. They grow closer and fall in love. As Ally makes a rapid ascent to become one of the biggest names in music, Jackson’s name is slipping into obscurity. As Ally gets all she ever wanted, Jackson may lose everything he had. And they might lose each other.

As well as marking Gaga’s leading debut, A Star Is Born is Cooper’s first film as director. He has absolutely smashed it. The film has been getting rave reviews for Cooper’s filmmaking and the performance he draws from Gaga, not to mention the absolutely killer soundtrack. This is going to be one of the most talked about movies of the year, and you can see it before anyone else, for free.
