Stranger Things has taken over the world since it launched on Netflix this summer, and whether its the show’s child stars stealing everyone’s hearts at awards ceremonies or performing the US National Anthem at baseball games, it’s become totally inescapable. Take, as evidence, Skinny Lister‘s new album, and album track ‘Charlie’.
“‘Charlie’ is about a friend of mine – Charlie Heaton – from Bridlington who has recently found fame in the US as an actor, most notably his recent role in the Netflix series Stranger Things,” say the band of one of the tracks on third record ‘The Devil, The Heart & The Fight’.
The Hastings band also describe the album as having “a more global sound to it than our previous albums”. “It was largely pieced together in rehearsal rooms in the US, Germany and UK while we were touring with label mate Frank Turner,” they explain. “Though we still consider ourselves a folk band at our core, we’ve allowed ourselves to be a bit more stylistically adventurous on this album. This keeps it interesting for us and hopefully our audience also. We can’t wait to get it on the road when we tour the UK in October and the US in November.”
Listen to the record in full below ahead of its release on Friday (September 30) via Xtra Mile Recordings.
