It may be summer outside, but in the minds of Leeds’ Autobahn, it’s always raining. The four-piece, who you’d wager are big fans of both winter and discontent, have chosen the warmest day of the year so far to hit us with ‘Immaterial Man’, a brilliantly barked goth-rock headache taken from their incoming debut album ‘Dissemble’. Crossing The Horrors’ baritone gloom with the timeless post-punk feel of Joy Division at their angriest, it sees frontman Craig Johnson’s paranoid, poetic lyrics about vanishing into the shadows of your mind set to punishing guitars and deliciously dark drum clatters. Meh, happiness is overrated anyway.
As an added bonus, watch the NME video exclusive of the song performed live at The Nave, Leeds, 2015. ‘Dissemble’ comes out on August 21 via Tough Love – be sure to check it out.
