After a four-year wait, the light at the end of the tunnel for Deftones devotees really is getting brighter and brighter. With a massive headline show at Wembley Arena booked for June – as well as a long-awaited return to Download Festival in the same month – the most immediate fervour for the band’s UK fans has been reserved for ‘Gore’, the band’s forthcoming eighth album.
And yesterday things got even more exciting: the band’s official Instagram page started posting a series of pictures of pink flamingos in flight. What could this mean? A penchant for exotic bird-spotting? A new-found interest in nature photography? A study of animals in motion?
Of course not – the series of pictures were released in that particular way to create a collage on their Instagram page, with the penultimate post containing the title ‘GORE’, confirming that this is indeed the chosen artwork for the new album.
Take a look at the image for yourself below, and try to contain your excitement – despite these developments, there’s still no set date fixed for the album’s arrival.
