I was at last year’s CMJ, stuck halfway down a toilet queue of unbearably earnest NYC hipsters, when I first heard The Muslims.
I don’t know if it was their gaffer-taped garage-punk looser-than-a-Virgins-groupie ramshackle charm, the osmosis of an ocean of free Southern Comfort through my capillaries, or the fact their amps swiftly cut an end to the stream of self-conscious, smug theorising being dispensed by the Fader party’s groomed poseurs – but it sounded like manna from heaven.
