Last Sunday night, the regular electronica and techno night WetYourSelf! took place at London superclub Fabric. Alongside the sweaty weekend ravers were a rather unlikely pair of clubbers – an elderly couple in their late 70s who’d travelled all the way from Poland especially to attend the night. Now either we’ve fallen for the most adorable press stunt of all time or this is the best thing to happen to clubbing since that time Bianca Jagger rode into Studio 54 on the back of a pony.
According to Fabric’s own Facebook page, the geriatric gurners had bought their tickets back home in Poland after reading a glowing review of Fabric in the paper. Keen to make the most of their time at the club, they arrived bang on time as the doors opened and had planned to take the tube back to where they were staying at 6am, when the night finished. The club bosses had other ideas. “I told them they had a free bar, gave them two shots of tequila to start, but after that asked if they could have cups of tea,” said Fabric resident DJ and WetYourSelf! director Jacob Husley, pictured above with the pair. “They were ballroom dancing on the dance floor, although not for to long as the lady was using a crutch and didn’t walk so well… They stayed until 5am and we convinced them to take our offer of a free taxi home instead of waiting for the tube. They said they had a great time and loved the crowd and vibe.”
Life goals right there. Long may they rave.
