This Grantham Punk Band Got Green Day’s Billie Joe To Produce Their New Single – Listen

How on earth does a punk band from Grantham end up in California, being produced by Billie Joe from Green Day? Matt Grocott and The Shrives managed it when Joe’s son Joey heard the band and recommended them to Dad, who flew them out to the Sunshine State to record their album. He even played drums on some tracks. Anyway, here’s the video for their new single ‘Turn Me On’.

Towards the end it sounds a bit Nimrod-era, while there’s infectious energy in the occasional ad-libs singer Matt Grocott throws in here (“Arriba!”). They’ll have a multi-platinum concept album and West End musical to their name before you know it.
