“When I put the kettle on/ You put heavy metal on” sighs a world-weary Eoin Loveless on ‘Fuckabout’, the swansong of Drenge’s 2013 self-titled debut LP which is set to be released as a single on February 24. And he and his brother Rory are looking similarly glum and fed-up in the accompanying video, too: there’s a snippet in which the two of them are sat on a sofa, miles apart and looking at one another with utter disdain and boredom.
Of course, those of us in-the-know are aware that Drenge are anything but humdrum. And so, behold the other highlights of the video! An everyday living room transformed into a mirror-balled dancefloor! A couple of cut and fluffy dogs running around! A massive, cholestrol-heavy sandwich being doused with sauce! Sadly, it comes too late to receive a nod for the Best Music Video category at the NME Awards 2014, but the Loveless siblings have deservedly picked up a few other nominations, including Best New Band and Best Album. And they’ll also be playing an NME Awards Show at London’s Scala on February 20 – for more information, see here.
