The zombie comic book adaptation has caused plenty of speculation since its last outing. We knew that a character had been battered to death by bad lad Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) at the end of series six, but the recipient of the attack was kept a secret – until now. Look away now if you’ve not seen the episode yet and are trying to avoid spoilers, but it turns out there were TWO victims: Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) came a cropper, thanks to Negan’s beloved, barbed-wire-embellished baseball bat, Lucille. It was truly shocking scene, but how did the filmmakers achieve such a sickening pleasingly gross levels of gore?
These pictures show how that eyeball of Glenn’s came so unfortunately loose. They also indicate how much attention and time The Walking Dead creators must spend on their craft. Of the death of his character, Yeun told Entertainment Weekly: “It was a really confusing time for me personally. It was a sense of relief that a chapter was closing, a sense of accomplishment in looking back and seeing all the things that I got to be a part of, a sense of sadness in knowing that I don’t get to work with these people in the same capacity again.” Looking at the work that goes on behind the scenes, it’s no wonder.
