Megan Fox is replacing Zooey Deschanel in FOX sitcom New Girl – but it’s only for a five-episode stint, while Deschanel is on maternity leave. The replacement actor’s run starts tonight, February 9, in the US, and you can see a clip of her entrance below.
Fox, who once appeared opposite Charlie Sheen in a 2004 episode of Two and a Half Men and has since appeared in blockbusters including Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will play Reagan, a pharmaceutical sales rep. Reagan sublets the room normally rented by Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess. Meanwhile, Jess is on jury duty – perhaps an on-set euphemism for Deschanel’s maternity leave – and flatmates Winston and Nick are intrigued by her new replacement.
The only thing we hear Reagan say in the clip is about Jess’ possessions: “I like the room – I think I just want to get rid of the pillows, the yarn, the tote bags and anything else that makes me feel racist against white people.” The rest of the episode airs tonight in the US on Fox
New Girl is currently in its fifth season, and tonight’s episode will be its 100th. Created by No Strings Attached screenwriter Elizabeth Merriweather, it began on Fox in 2011 and has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and five Primetime Emmy Awards. Season 5, featuring Fox’s guest role, is set to air in the UK on E4 in June 2016.
