Watch The Trailer For Creation Records Film Upside Down

It’s shaping up to be a good year for music movies. Ian Dury biopic Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll is picking up slavering reviews, and tonight (January 14) sees the premier of Blur flick No Distance Left To Run.

Potentially most exciting of all, though, is Upside Down, which tells the story of Creation – the label that launched the careers of Oasis, Primal Scream, Ride, My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus And Mary Chain. For those who like their rockumentaries spiced up with plenty of drug-fuelled debauchery, this film looks like it’ll have it in spades.

Featuring talking-head interviews with many of the “lunatics, misfits, drug addicts and sociopaths” who made up the Creation pay-roll – including Noel Gallagher and Bobby Gillespie – the trailer suggests you can expect plenty of ludicrously overblown statements, in the grand Creation tradition. Like this one from label boss Alan McGee: “I was out of my mind more of the time than I was sober – but it didn’t affect any of the artistic decisions I made.”

Hmm. Anyone who ever heard Mishka might question that.

Anyway, for more on Upside Down – which is released in the spring – here’s an interview with McGee on the film:
