Weezer Cover MGMT’s ‘Kids’ (and Lady GaGa’s ‘Poker Face’)

Hard to imagine a more undignified gig for a band of Weezer’s stature – supporting their lesser, dumber imitators, the newly reformed Blink 182, at a T-Mobile gig at Hollywood’s Paramount Studios (May 14).

Still, Rivers Cuomo made the most of the situation, treating a pretty joyless crowd to a sprightly cover of MGMT’s ‘Kids’, before seguing into a briefer, and slightly more shambolic, burst of Lady GaGa’s ‘Poker Face’ – and acknowledging the slightly tawdry nature of the performance with an acidly sarcastic shout-out: “T-Mobile in the houuuse!”
