It was a brand new millennium, and topping our picks of the year was Eminem. It’s still safe to say that ‘The Real Slim Shady’’s crass celeb bashing was oddly heart-warming, and the promo video starring Kathy Griffin is one of the most memorable vids of the decade (or at least from the era when MTV still played music videos…)

Queens Of The Stone Age wiggled their way into two top ten spots, while Coldplay’s first big Stateside hit (and arguably one of their finest songs to date) clocked in at No. 2. And remember the original Sugababes? They squeezed in there, too. 2000 saw an eclectic top ten, to say the least.

It’s nice to see PJ Harvey, Aaliyah, The Dandy Warhols and Marilyn Manson in the full list of 50, as well as The Bloodhound Gang’s ‘Bad Touch’. (C’mon, you know you all loved that one). Although I’m rather surprised Destiny Child’s ‘Independent Women’ didn’t make the cut.

That being said, the start of the noughties saw quite a lot of crap: Tom Jones’ ‘Sex Bomb’? ‘Who Let The Dogs Out?’ by the Baha Men (we’d all like to forget that one ever existed)? Sisqo’s ‘Thong Song’? That every-party-needs-it-but-we-all-hate-it ‘Cha Cha Slide’? Ugh.

So, what was your favourite song from 2000? (Or if you’d prefer – which song would you like to ban from that year’s existence?)
