White Lies Divide And Conquer – Inside This Week’s NME

In this week’s NME…

White Lies! Yep, those happy chaps behind the song ‘Death’ are back with a new album that, while it’s hardly S Club 7, does see them take their gloom to brighter new heights. Stadium gigs for White Lies? It’ll happen sooner than you think…

Since White Lies have cheered up a bit, we’re balancing that out with our list of the 50 Darkest Albums Ever. Joy Division, The Cure, the Manics, Leonard Cohen and Nirvana all make an appearance.

Elsewhere there’s interviews with Chapel Club and Esben and the Witch, but before we all truly slip into the darkness, we also speak to The View who take us round Dundee, show us their new testicular piercings and declare that “you can’t write songs without drugs.”

We also announce who will be joining Foo Fighters on the bill at NME’s Big Gig at Wembley Arena, tag along with James Buckley from The Inbetweeners as he guests on the new album of some Britpop legends, and check out Glasvegas as they make their live return.

Plus reviews, gig guide, new tracks, crossword, and tons more. You’ll love it, we swear on all of our mother’s lives. (Hate it, and they die now. So on your conscience be it.)
