‘You Are A Spineless Weasel’ – The Entertainment World Reacts To Nigel Farage’s Resignation

In case you haven’t already heard the news, Nigel Farage has resigned as UKIP leader after achieving his “political ambition”.

As one of the faces of the campaign that achieved a 52% vote for ‘Leave’ in June’s EU Referendum, that “political ambition” has since led to the resignation of the Prime Minister, the gobsmacking withdrawal by Leave campaigner Boris Johnson from the resulting Tory leadership race, the resignation of more than a dozen Labour MPs from Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet – and, as a bonus round: a vote of no confidence in Corbyn as Labour leader by his MPs.

Northern Irish Post Offices have run out of application forms for Irish passports because so many people are worried about what owning a UK passport now means. In economic fallout news, the pound slumped to a 31-year low after the result.

“During the the referendum I said I wanted my country back,” a cheery Farage told a press conference at Westminster this morning (July 4) as he announced his resignation. “Now I want my life back.” Good for you, Nige. Thanks for all the political turmoil!

Farage has previously resigned twice from the position of UKIP leader: first in 2009, and then again in 2015 after the General Election – in which UKIP gained only one seat (Douglas Carswell in Clacton). He returned to the position to fight for the Leave campaign, but now he says he’s going for good. Carswell responded to the news with this honest-to-god legit tweet:
