Yes, you did read that headline correctly: you can now tool your Sat Nav so that the voice command system – you know, the one that goes “take a left here”, “reroute here” and “shit, we’re a bit lost, aren’t we?” – is manned by the dulcet tones of Morgan Freeman’s instantly-recognisable vocal box. Praise be!
This is all the work of navigation app wizards Waze, who have managed to tempt the 2005 Academy Award-winner into lending his voice to their Google-owned system. As promotion for Freeman’s upcoming role in landmark-destroyer thriller London Has Fallen, where the 78-year-old plays Vice President Allan Trumbell – a bit of a demotion from his Presidential role in Deep Impact, no? – the actor has finally given into the overwhelming demands from Waze’s users by offering to guide them through city traffic, country lanes and cross-country motorways journeys by delivering lines in the role of Trumbell. Users have reported that Freeman refers to you like you’re the President too, so that’s an obvious added bonus.

In case you’re still thinking, “no. God wouldn’t waste his time on that,” then, well, here’s a screenshot from a clearly delighted Waze user confirming the very opposite.

So, what are you waiting for? Get Morgan loaded as your GPS guide and, chances are, you’ll never get irate at roadworks ever again.
