Kicking off this week’s Buzz playlist of breaking/unknown bands we love are the great Coneheads, from north-west Indiana. Last year’s ‘Canadian Cone’ tape is an absolute gem, and certainly one of the best lowkey north American releases I’ve heard in years, right up there with the early stuff from Merchandise, Sheer Mag and Milk Music.
Much like that last band, they’re pretty press shy. Unlike them, though, they churn out new music gloriously frequently (another tape just went up via the Suds Denim blog a couple of weeks ago).
Stream the whole of ‘Canadian Cone’ below – and look out for a cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ about two thirds of the way through.
Moving on, we’ve got a monster new music playlist for you, featuring new Godmode act Soft Lit (and if you liked Shamir’s first EP you’ll almost certainly dig them), rising Mac DeMarco enthusiasts Honey Moon, LA popster Nicky Blitz, the icy and enigmatic Anna B Savage, LuckyMe’s first ‘band’ Naked and an NYC hardcore rap collective called Show Me The Body who hang out with Ratking and play banjos. Stream them all below.
