Buzz Playlist Of The Week – Hear 15 Brand New Tracks

You might have heard New Yorkers’ Public Access TV’s tune ‘Monaco’ from our 40 New Bands For 2014 blog, which went up last week. Well, they’re in this week’s magazine and buzz playlist too, alongside this fresh quote from singer John that seems to firmly imply they won’t be hanging out with any other downtown NYC bands any time soon: “Manhattan’s gone stale. Too many bands trying too hard to be seen as cool and not actually writing good songs. With Public Access T.V. we want to draw a line in the sand between US and THEM.”

I think he’s right – Manhattan hasn’t produced a genuinely great band for ages. More power to ’em. Elsewhere on the playlist we’ve got Communions (new on Posh Isolation and friends of Iceage), Totoake (from Santa Cruz and pushing chilled-out, surfboard-in-hand cuts of guitar-led gold), as well as something new from Fair Ohs drummer Joe Ryan (called High Hopes). As ever, pick up the mag to read more on all the bands, as well as an interview with this issue’s New Band Of The Week (Menace Beach) and a guest column from Cerebral Ballzy mainman Honor Titus.
