Inevitably the dubstep fraternity has witnessed a backlash against the knuckle-dragging wobble-by-numbers exhausted formula that took Blogmixland by the scruff off its neck for the lions-share of last year.
It’s reminiscent of the sniffing that ‘clown-step’ D&B underwent in the late Nineties.
Sure, most of this is wholly justified, but you’ve got to wonder whether some of the other more clued-up producers dabbling with that fun-orientated end of the spectrum have been short-changed because of this shift in vogue.
Midlands lektro-dub technician Jakwob won one of 2009’s remix medals with his take on Ellie Goulding’s ‘Starry-Eyed’.
His sound fits into the floaty sparkle-glitch of new pop-electro ala Starsmith, but with the sub-bounce and wriggle of thug-step ala Rusko.
Here’s a reminder of that Ellie remix and a brand new track 100% exclusive for this here blog called ‘Silhouette’.
