Radar Tip Of The Day 66: Milk Music

Welcome to my favourite US band in ages.

Earlier this year Milk Music released a six-track EP through Perennial Records called ‘Beyond Living’. The title track, below, is now pretty much one of my songs of the year:

What can I say? In a sea of bands obsessed with shoegaze and trying to hide themselves a’la WU LYF, this is nothing short of refreshing.

Here they sound like a grunge T-Rex:

And this is what they’re like live:

Their Last.FM page has this rather ace biog of them:

“Olympia, WA: A very loud, and electric power trio lends a fuzz blanket over classic American songwriting in the vain of Dinosaur Jr, Feelies, Hüsker Dü. Unlike other underground bands tackling pop via hardcore today, Milk Music strays from the commonly generic reverb and surf sound to strengthen their no bullshit policy of presenting good songs, and for that they come off as a real band in an era of genre biting.”

You can still buy their EP on vinyl from Perennialdeath.com.
