Splashh Return With A Dreamy, Dewy New Sound On ‘Pure Blue’

After releasing their debut album ‘Comfort’ in 2013, Splashh left their adopted hometown of London and headed for New York. There they hooked up with new members Angus Tarnawsky (drums) and Jaie Gonzalez (keys), and started experimenting on a new sound. ‘Pure Blue’ follows last year’s ‘Colour It In’ in giving a hint at the band’s new direction – their laidback garage-pop of old given new life by whirring electronics, this time more crisp and clear than its fuzzy predecessor. It’s dreamy and dewy, and strangely cinematic; like it could soundtrack an urban sunset in an effortlessly cool independent movie. It’s full of longing, too, frontman Sasha Carlson sighing “It’s all I ever wanted/All I ever needed” with elegant despondence.

‘Pure Blue’ is released on October 30 via Luv Luv Luv Records. Catch them at a free headline show at Sheffield’s Bungalows & Bears on September 23, before they head out on the road as main support to Peace. The full dates are as follows:
