“I’m breaking down,” sighs Alex De Lucas on the last track of The Parrots’ debut EP, ‘Weed For The Parrots’. The track takes a slightly sozzled, acoustic angle after the Madrid trio have burst through ramshackle garage-punk rife with paranoia and despair – an emotional breather after an unrelenting assault. Written when the band were overindulging in alcohol and weed, this is a record that captures the jubilant highs and all-encompassing, nightmarish lows of non-stop partying in the most enlivening and bracing way.
