Who bit Beyoncé is the greatest pop culture mystery in recent memory

Was it Becky with the good hair?

Who bit Beyoncé at an after-party way back in 2015? The rumour mill is swirling – and we’re here to rule out some suspects.

All of this has been brought about by Tiffany Haddish,  a comedian and actor who made her breakthrough in last year’s hit comedy movie Girls Trip. She recently gave a barnstormin’ interview with GQ in which she claimed that an unusual event had occurred at said after-party, leading people of the internet to speculate as to the identity of the perpetrator.

Haddish claims that it was a female actor that committed the bizarre act at the after-party in 2015. She told GQ: “There was this actress there that’s just, like, doing the mostest… She bit Beyoncé in the face.” Haddish goes onto explain that Beyoncé later said of the biter:  “That bitch is on drugs. She not even drunk… She not like that all the time.”

Who would dare – narcotically induced or not – to bite bloody Beyoncé  in the face? Model and all-round Twitter don Chrissy Teigan has delighted in teasing her followers, claiming she knows what went down.

Pop culture site The Cut went to town in rounding up the after-party’s attendees. These include: Rihanna, Queen Latifah, jewellery designer Jen Meyer and actors Sanaa Lathan and Sara Foster. You wouldn’t describe Rihanna and Queen Latifah as actors first and foremost, so they’re out. Jen Meyer’s profession rules her out, too.

So, can we rule out Sanaa Lathan and Sara Foster? The former was at the Jay-Z concert that led to the after-party that night, as a tweet dredged up from that night proves. However, she’s since come out and denied the rumours she took the liability of biting the most famous and possibly most powerful woman in the world.  “Y’all are funny,” she tweeted. “Under no circumstances did I bite Beyonce and if I did it would’ve been a love bite.” Okay, Foster’s out.

Foster took to Instagram to refute a right-of-reply she received via email. “Flattering that someone thinks I could get this close to Beyoncé.” Yeah, that’s a robust defence.

Well, the most exciting pop culture mystery recent years lives on, uniting us as we ask: where, exactly, was my invite?
