Titled after the label’s Head In The Clouds Forever showcase at Coachella on Saturday (April 16), the project features the songs ‘Best Lover’, ‘Froyo’ and ‘T’. All are new material that Indonesian rappers Brian and Hue, South Korean singer-songwriter BIBI and Japanese-American pop icon Hikaru Utada premiered at Coachella.

In an interview with NME at Coachella, which you can watch below, Hue and Brian revealed that the track ‘Froyo’ was recorded in 30 minutes.
“It’s a really interestingly arranged song,” Brian said. “I’m excited to see how people react to it. I feel like nowadays, people are afraid to experiment with switches and stuff like that… ‘Froyo’ is going to be part of this big unveiling of an era. ‘Froyo’ is one of those things to mark this point in time by making something more permanent in the world.”
Other artists who performed for 88rising’s Coachella set include NIKI, who dedicated a cover of Andra and The Backbone’s ‘Sempurna’ to her family and home country of Indonesia, and Thai rapper MILLI, who closed her performance by eating from a bowl of signature Thai dessert mango sticky rice.
K-pop group 2NE1, who disbanded in 2016, notably reunited for one song during leader CL’s performance. For their Coachella performance, the group – Bom, CL, Dara and Minzy – performed their hit ‘I Am The Best’.
Coachella continues this weekend, with 88rising’s second set taking place April 23.
