Hardcore band Converge mistaken for Philippines internet service provider by angry commenters

“Covid has not forced us to become an internet provider in the Philippines yet, but we hope everyone over there gets their internet access back”

American hardcore band Converge recently became the subject of a hilarious case of mistaken identity, with angry Filipinos hurling at them criticism intended for an internet service provider in the Philippines.

The band was alerted to the issue through their official Facebook account on Saturday, following an influx of comments from Filipinos complaining about their poor internet service. The comments were prompted by an internet outage from service provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc.

Recent comments found under the band’s photos include “WTF PLEASE FIX THE FCKING INTERNET NO CONNECTION” and “Fix the internet please before you sell t shirt”. Other comments also include screenshots of commenters’ slow internet speeds.

As Coconuts notes, the band has since addressed the situation on Facebook. They wrote: “Hey everyone… still just a hardcore band over here. Covid has not forced us to become an internet provider in the Philippines yet, but we hope everyone over there gets their internet access back”.

Multiple Filipinos have since taken to Converge’s comment section, this time to apologise for the mix-up. Several comments thanks the band for being such good sports, while others asked if the band could tour the Philippines once the pandemic is over.
