Listen to Bruce Springsteen team up with Bleachers on new song ‘Chinatown’

'45', another new song from the Jack Antonoff-led band, has also been released

Bleachers have shared a new song titled ‘Chinatown’ which sees them teaming up with Bruce Springsteen — you can listen to it below.

The release comes after the Jack Antonoff-led project previewed new material over the weekend as both Bleachers and Antonoff tweeted a phone number for fans to call.

Bleachers fans who called up the number (which promised to “take the sadness out of Saturday night”) were greeted with previews of two new songs by the band when they pressed certain key combinations.

Bleachers have today (November 16) shared a new collaboration with Springsteen called ‘Chinatown’ — which was previewed on the phone line — which sees both Antonoff and The Boss taking it in turns to sing the song’s chorus.

You can watch the video for Bleachers and Springsteen’s ‘Chinatown’ collaboration below.

Speaking about ‘Chinatown’, Antonoff said: “It starts in NYC and travels to New Jersey. That pull back to the place I am from mixed with terror of falling in love again. Having to show your cards to someone and the shock when you see them for yourself. Thinking you know yourself and where you are from…. Having to see yourself through somebody who you want to stay…

“I started to write this song with these ideas ringing in my head. To further understand who you are pushes you to further understand where you are from and what that looks and sounds like. There are pieces in that that are worth carrying forever and pieces worth letting die. ‘Chinatown’ and ’45’ are both the story of this – ‘Chinatown’ through someone else, ’45’ through the mirror.

“As for Bruce, it’s the honour of a lifetime to be joined by him. He is the artist who showed me that the sound of the place I am from has value and that there is a spirit here that needs to be taken all over the world.”

Bleachers have also shared the B-side ’45’, which you can hear above.

Earlier this year, Antonoff promised on Twitter that a new Bleachers album would arrive in 2020. The record, the band’s third LP, is now set to be released in 2021.

Springsteen recently released his 20th studio album, ‘Letter To You’. A film that accompanied the LP was also released.
