Cayenne drops intense new solo single, ‘Sugar Rush’

The solo project of Celine Autumn, the vocalist of Singaporean dream pop band Sobs

Cayenne, aka Singaporean dream pop band Sobs vocalist Celine Autumn, has dropped an intense solo track titled ‘Sugar Rush’.

The bubblegum pop-themed number – which boasts a nightmarish drop – arrived on Friday (December 4). It comes ahead of an upcoming EP, which is set to be released in the near future.

‘Sugar Rush’ comes two months after she dropped her debut solo single ‘Drivin’ Away’. She wrote both songs, which were produced or co-produced by her Sobs bandmate Jared Lim.

Laden with synths and frenzied beats, the Cayenne material is a far cry from Autumn’s work in Sobs, with guitars taking a backseat.

Cayenne had announced the release of the latest track in late November.

The artist wrote and recorded ‘Drivin’ Away’ while in isolation and noted the project is the result of time spent messing around on digital audio workstation Ableton.

“I spent the first month of quarantine feeling very low and unproductive, but I slowly began to work more on music,” she said.

“I wanted to put aside my increasing self-doubt by coming up with something, to just have fun and practice my production skills. All of that resulted with the birth of ‘Drivin’ Away’, along with many other cool demos that I’m saving for future releases.”

Celine Autumn is best known as the vocalist of Sobs, the Singaporean dream pop trio who released their debut album ‘Telltale Signs’ in 2018. In October, the band also confirmed they were in the midst of recording a new album.
