Indonesian DJ duo Diskoria and songwriting trio Laleilmanino have teamed up on their third collaborative track ‘C.H.R.I.S.Y.E.’, featuring actress and singer Eva Celia.
The dancey single, which arrived today (January 15), pays tribute to the Indonesian pop legend for which it is named, and is Eva Celia’s first time singing in the disco pop genre.
Diskoria – Merdi Leonardo Simandjuntak and Fadli Aat – and Laleilmanino – the trio comprising Lale and Ilman of Maliq & D’essentials and Nino of RAN – completed ‘C.H.R.I.S.Y.E.’ in 24 hours as part of a music-making challenge by the platform Studio Pop.
The song subtly honours Chrisye by including 24 of his song titles in the lyrics, and each line of its chorus starts with a letter that make up the name ‘Chrisye’.
Its music video, directed by Gianni Fajri, features all the collaborators on the track, as well as performance arts group Peqho Teater founder Adjie NA. He serves as the video’s protagonist, who relives his past glories of partying to Chrisye’s songs.

The recording process was carried out during the pandemic, with Diskoria and Laleilmanino working alongside in the studio, while Eva recorded vocals separately at home, the press release noted.
Previously, Diskora and Laleilmanino collaborated on the tracks ‘Balada Insan Muda’ and ‘Serenata Jiwa Lara’ featuring Dian Sastrowardoyo, released in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
‘C.H.R.I.S.Y.E.’ was facilitated by the creative platform Studio Pop, an experimental project under the Jakarta-based imprint Suara Disco, that aims to unite producers, musicians, artists, and industry players in a single ecosystem.
In October, Diskoria collaborated with singer Afifah Yusuf on a groovy remake of the ’80s song ‘Pelangi Cinta’.
