Karpos Live concert series to go virtual with Leanne & Naara and Clara Benin

This will be the series' first online episode

Filipino concert series Karpos Live is set to return with a virtual event headlined by Leanne & Naara and Clara Benin.

Given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the series will return in an online format in collaboration with Globe/Poppin’. The free virtual livestream will take place on Monday, January 25 at 6pm.

According to the event’s official Facebook page, the performance will feature the Filipino artists performing “your favourite BLACKPINK songs” – calling to mind the time last year Leanne & Naara shared covers of BLACKPINK’s ‘Ice Cream’ and BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ to social media.

This is the first Karpos Live event in over a year. The double-bill concert series, which stars both local and international acts, lay dormant in 2020 after a run of 2019 events that featured the likes of Phum Viphurit, The Japanese House, Jordan Rakei, Jeremy Zucker, IV Of Spades, Munimuni and more.

Singer-songwriter Clara Benin released her latest EP ‘Fragments’ in November 2020. It consisted of five songs, one an alternate version of ‘Wine’ featuring Singaporean singer-songwriter Charlie Lim. On the other hand, pop duo Leanne & Naara also released their debut album ‘Daybreak’ in November.

Both artists recently performed at the 6th Wish Music Awards, presented by radio station Wish FM 107.5. Benin was nominated for Contemporary Folk Performance of the Year and Contemporary Folk Song of the Year, losing both to Ben&Ben. She was also up for Wish Artist of the Year, which ultimately went to Gloc-9.

Leanne & Naara were also nominated for Contemporary Folk Song of the Year. They clinched the award for Song Collaboration of the Year for ‘Habangbuhay’, their song with Noel Cabangon. See the winners at the 6th Wish Music Awards here.
