NIKI has released a video for ‘Lose’, a new ballad off her upcoming debut album ‘Moonchild’ – which now has a confirmed release date.
‘Lose’ is the third preview of the album so far, following ‘Switchblade’ and ‘Selene’. “‘Lose’ is an intimate ballad chronicling the internal dialogue that ensues when one hits a tipping point in a tumultuous relationship,” NIKI said in a statement.
“We did [the video] in one take, just me and the piano in a room. Here we see Moonchild speaking to her guardian, The Moon, in a vulnerable moment of betrayal.”

‘Moonchild’ will be released on September 10 via 88rising. The Indonesian singer and multi-instrumentalist confirmed the date on Twitter on August 11, with a pre-order link for all digital platforms.

The album has taken a full two years to emerge, produced with a strong list of collaborators: songwriter Jacob Ray, collective Bekon & the Donuts, and Montreal producer Pomo. The latter is known for his work with Anderson .Paak and Mac Miller.
NIKI shared more on the album in an exclusive interview with InqPop! back in April.
“In the past, I have gravitated towards writing about love, and my songs are very conversational and tied to the real world,” she said. “But this album is definitely more about the idea of self and is more introspective. It’s discovering who you really are.”
The ten-song release is touted to be a full-fledged concept album, with an eclectic range of styles – R&B, pop, country, punk – and lush, orchestral production.
