Here are the artists Spotify users in Southeast Asia listened to most this year

BTS, Justin Bieber, BLACKPINK and Taylor Swift ranked highly across Southeast Asia

Spotify Wrapped is here: The streaming service has unveiled user listening statistics for the year of 2020, revealing the most-streamed artists by users in countries all around the world.

BTS ranked highly on Spotify’s Southeast Asian lists, clinching the title of most-streamed artist in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. They were second in the Philippines, beaten by local folk pop group Ben&Ben.

The Filipino band took to Twitter to respond to the achievement. “You don’t get to #1 without the hearts of people who lift you up and the stories that connect us all,” they wrote. “Thanks for making us the 2020 Top Streaming Artist in the Philippines, on Spotify. This is for all of us.”


Other artists who appeared in the top five most-streamed artist lists across Southeast Asia were Justin Bieber, BLACKPINK, Taylor Swift and Lauv.

As for local artist rankings, coming behind Ben&Ben in the Philippines were Moira dela Torre, rapper Matthaios, indie band December Avenue and veteran rock band Parokya Ni Edgar.

Jakarta singer-songwriter Pamungkas topped the Indonesian list, followed by Fiersa Besari, Hindia (aka Baskara Putra, the frontman of .Feast), Tulus and the late Glenn Fredly, who died in April this year.

Veteran Mandopop singers dominated the list of most-streamed Singaporean artists, with JJ Lin at Number One, Stefanie Sun at Number Two and Tanya Chua at Number Four. Gentle Bones came in third, while Jasmine Sokko was fifth.

Pop-rock outfit Three Man Down and the duo SCRUBB were Thailand’s third and fourth most-streamed artists respectively, and topped the local ranking as well. The local list was rounded out by BOWKYLION, Brit-rock trio Tilly Birds and Stamp.


In Vietnam, Đen and Chillies came in third and fifth in the most-streamed artist ranking, and topped the local ranking as a result. Following them were Sơn Tùng MTP, Bich Phuong and Hoang Thuy Linh.

The top five spots on Spotify’s 2020 global rankings were held by Bad Bunny, Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD and The Weeknd.
