The trailer for the Thai adaptation of South Korean television series Boys Over Flowers has arrived.
The series, which is titled F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, is based on the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango, which ran from 1992 to 2003. The manga was so popular that it spawned multiple TV adaptations, the first arriving in 2001 in the form of Taiwan’s Meteor Garden.
Meteor Garden was followed up by Japan’s Hana Yori Dango in 2005 and South Korea’s Boys Over Flowers in 2009, and most recently, China’s Meteor Garden in 2018. F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, by Thai TV production and talent agency GMMTV, will be the fifth TV adaptation of the hit manga since its release.
While the upcoming Thai series will undoubtedly reshape a few of the show’s aspects to fit a Thai audience and the depiction of their lifestyles, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers will still follow in the manga’s footsteps, revolving around a down-to-earth girl’s relationships with her school’s four richest boys, known as F4.
Check out the trailer below.
The trailer kicks off with clips circulating on social media that catch the F4 engaging in acts of hazing and bullying. The videos quickly disappear from social media as the group’s leader Thyme brags about how “[with] enough money, we can do anything. We can turn a wrong into a right. We can turn black into white. We can even make someone praise us. We can do whatever with the snap of a finger”.
The trailer then switches between scenes of female lead Gorya declaring her hatred for the F4 gang, while slowly falling for Thyme – but also others in the group, which could only lead to romantic entanglement and chaos.
A release date for F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers has not been announced, but is expected to arrive in 2021.
