The first taste of the rapper's new EP

Briggs has released his first solo single of 2020, ‘Extra Extra.’

The track follows the success of ‘Housefyre,’ the rapper’s March collaboration with Tim Minchin. It is the first taste of Briggs’ second EP, set for release in the second half of 2020.

In a statement regarding the song, Briggs explained that the titular phrase refers to Briggs’ entire way of being.

“[It’s] how I live,” he said.

“No days off. Everything I do is Extra – you can check my resume for that. A lot of people know me for a lot of different things – but this is back to the fundamentals of who I am as Briggs.”

Trials – aka Daniel Rankine – produced the beat on ‘Extra Extra.’ He is best known for his work as one half of A.B. Original, alongside Briggs himself. Briggs notes that the process for creating the song was quite simple: “Trials had the beat, he put it on and I cooked it up that same day.”

“This is us in our purest form,” he adds. “Beat, rap and on to the next one.”

Prior to ‘Housefyre,’ Briggs released two singles in 2019. The first, ‘Front Row Hustle,’ was a collaboration with DZ Deathrays, JessWar and Trials. ‘Life Is Incredible,’ featuring Greg Holden, followed in April.

Last month, Briggs released his first children’s book, ‘Our Home, Our Heartbeat.’ In addition, he isset to host the APRA Awards at the end of the month.
