Mia Wray shares cathartic new single ‘Never Gonna Be the Same’

Following up last year's debut single 'Work for Me'

Melbourne singer-songwriter Mia Wray has shared new single ‘Never Gonna Be the Same’. It’s a cathartic pop cut that swerves between brooding verses and high-energy refrains, all anchored by Wray’s commanding vocals.

“I found myself in situations both personally and professionally where I wasn’t being valued or heard and something finally just snapped inside me,” Wray explained of the song’s genesis in a statement.

“I realised I could take control of my own narrative and by trusting my gut and understanding my worth… I unlocked the thing that I always knew was in me and I’ve finally found where I’m meant to be.”

The new single coincides with the news that Wray has signed to Ivy League Records. ‘Never Gonna Be the Same’ follows Wray’s debut single ‘Work for Me’, which arrived back in September of last year.

In November, she performed an a cappella version of the song from Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre as part of the season two premiere of ABC’s live music show The Sound.

Earlier this week, Wray was announced as part of the lineup for new Victorian concert series Sounds Better Together. The songwriter will be performing a show in Mallacoota on January 30 alongside James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite and Vika & Linda as part of the series.
