Sydney vocalist A.GIRL has released her second single for 2020, ‘Lola.’
The track, released today (September 10), follows on from January’s ‘All Over You’. This year, she has also appeared on a February remix of Cub Sport’s single ‘I Never Cried So Much In My Whole Life,’ as well as B Wise’s May single ‘NXT 2 U.’
The single was released alongside an accompanying music video. Ben Develin of Mude Studios directed the video, in collaboration with Red Scope Films and with support from the Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Taka Perry produced the song, as well as serving as one of its co-writers. Perry had previously enlisted A.GIRL as a featured artist for his appearance on triple j’s ‘Like A Version’ segment, in which he covered Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Walks’. In addition to Perry, the track was produced by Canberran Ned Philpot and A.GIRL herself.
Composers Richard Adler and Jerry Ross are also credited as songwriters on the track, on account of the song sampling ‘Whatever Lola Wants’ from the 1955 musical Damn Yankees.
A.GIRL released her debut single, ‘2142’, in July last year. It was followed by ‘Play’ a month later.
2020 has also seen A.GIRL win the FBi Radio SMAC (Sydney Music, Arts and Culture) Award for Next Big Thing.
