Adelaide venue Jive announces fundraiser with Bad//Dreems’ Ben Marwe, George Alice and more

The culmination of a fundraising campaign to save the beloved venue

Beloved Adelaide venue Jive has announced a fundraiser show for later this month, the culmination of a campaign to keep the venue’s doors open after it was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and resultant restrictions.

Bad//Dreems‘ Ben Marwe, West Thebarton‘s Ray Dalfsen, George Alice and Stellie are among the artists who’ll perform at the venue on January 25 as part of what’s being dubbed JIVEaoke.

The event will be lead by the ‘Save Jive Five’, who’ll serve as the venue’s house band on the night. Tickets are on sale now.

The news arrives after a lengthy crowdfunding campaign via Pozible to save the venue, organised by a small collective of supporters from Adelaide’s music community. It has currently raised over $60,000.

“The campaign has been absolutely phenomenal; it’s been truly heart-warming to see the industry and community come together and throw all their support behind such a great cause. But the one thing everyone really wanted was a live show,” commented Jive owner Tam Boakes.

“It was really hard to pick a few bands to play, so we thought why not ask everyone, and create a true party atmosphere! These are all acts that have long been part of the Jive family, and it’s so exciting to see them all performing together, I honestly can’t wait for this show.”
