Alexander Biggs has today (January 20) shared a final teaser of his forthcoming debut album, ‘Hit Or Miss’.
Titled ‘I’ve Been Holding Onto You For Way Too Long’, the slow-burning single centres around lingering memories of a lost loved one. It’s quintessential Alexander Biggs: light, twinkly and personable but with a stark vulnerability.
In a statement, Biggs said the track was created at a time “when I felt, secretly, like someone I cared about had long since checked out, like their spirit fell out of them in the night on their international flight, somewhere over the ocean.” Listen below.
‘I’ve Been Holding Onto You For Way Too Long’ was a joint effort, written with Sam Burtt (Sam Phay) and Will Cuming (LANKS) – two artists whose intimacy within their music melds effortlessly with Biggs’ heart-on-sleeve nature.
“I really felt this song from its inception at the dining table. I was seeing light, in a dim room and aching, and that’s the place the song settled into. It must have flew in the window that morning or burrowed into me in the night. It was a moment of deep knowing. The session was so easy with Sam and Will. It just fell out of us. Things moved quickly,” Biggs explained.
“It’s really something else, for a collaborated song to mean so much to me. It’s something I experienced twice in the making of this record, and something I seldom ever experience in a co-write. I think it’s because I was just there with it, and deep in that feeling and I’m thankful Sam and Will were so accommodating to that and allowed me, and us, to follow it to its end.”
Alexander Biggs’ debut album ‘Hit Or Miss’ will be unveiled next month on February 3. It’s likely to feature previous teaser singles from 2020, ‘Laundromat’ and ‘All I Can Do Is Hate You’. The record was self-recorded and produced and is currently available to pre-order on Bandcamp.
