Ruel, Mallrat and more to play new Adelaide concert series Summer Sounds

Cub Sport, Lime Cordiale, The Veronicas and more are also on the line-up for the series, which kicks off later this month

Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival organisers Secret Sounds – along with local promoters Five Four Entertainment and Groove – have announced a new concert series set to take place in Adelaide, kicking off late this month.

The 18-date Summer Sounds Festival series will run between December 30 and January 30 at Bonython Park, with a lineup that includes the likes of Cub Sport, Mallrat, Ball Park Music, Ruel, The Veronicas, The Chats, Cosmo’s Midnight, Lime Cordiale, Ocean Alley, Spacey Jane, Bernard Fanning, Something For Kate and more.

On December 16, it was announced that Baker Boy and ABBA tribute act, Björn Again, had been added to the lineup. Baker Boy will join Lime Cordiale for their show on January 1, while Björn Again will take to the stage on the 26th.

All events are 18+ except for Ruel’s show on January 21 and Björn Again’s on January 26.

Tickets to the SA Health-approved series go on sale this Friday December 4 and will be sold in “party pod” bookings of between four and six people.

The socially-distanced pods will be available in VIP, Gold and Silver packages, with patrons able to pre-order refreshments, which will be delivered to punters on the day. You can get an idea of how it’ll all look below:

Last month, it was announced that Secret Sounds had received a $1.5million grant to launch a new festival in 2021, as part of the federal government’s $75million RISE Fund initiative.

Details around the project were relatively scarce – in a comment to NME at the time, Secret Sounds co-chief executive Jessica Ducrou said only, “Secret Sounds is thrilled to receive financial support and recognition for an exciting innovative project we look forward to launching in 2021.”
