Dannika and Snowy Band announce joint album launch show in Melbourne

Dannika's 'Gems' arrives next week, while Snowy Band's 'Audio Commentary' arrived during the height of the pandemic

Dannika and Snowy Band have announced a joint headlining show in Melbourne to launch their respective debut albums.

The jangly Spunk Records and Osborne Again labelmates will play at the Northcote Social Club on February 5, with limited capacity. Tickets to the dual-album launch are available via the venue now.

Dannika’s debut ‘Gems’, featuring singles ‘I Don’t Wanna Be With Anyone’ and ‘Directions’, is set for release the week before the show, on January 29. The singer-songwriter’s band features a team of prolific Melbourne musicians, including Liam Parsons and Stefan Blair from Good Morning and Paul Ceraso, who regularly plays with Gordon Koang. Outside of music, Dannika is an award-winning short filmmaker.

Snowy Band released their debut ‘Audio Commentary’ back in March 2020, but the onset of the coronavirus pandemic scuttled plans to launch it live last year. The band has played two shows since the easing of restrictions, most recently at the Corner Hotel with Cool Sounds. During that show, Snowy Band frontman Liam Halliwell mentioned they had recently finished recording a second album.

Halliwell also spent 2020 recording with Pop Filter, a spiritual successor to his former band The Ocean Party. He played on their two albums to date last year — ‘Banksia’ and ‘Donkey Gully Road’, the latter of which NME gave four stars.
