Elana Stone releases comeback single ‘Permanent Limbo’

Her first new solo single in five years

Singer-songwriter Elana Stone has released ‘Permanent Limbo,’ her first new solo music in five years.

The single, released today (September 10), follows on from 2015’s ‘Kintsugi’ EP. Singer-songwriter Josh Pyke served as the track’s co-producer, alongside musician Luke Moselely – who performs under the moniker of Butternut Sweetheart.

The song received its premiere on Double J radio yesterday prior to its official release to streaming platforms today.

In a statement, Stone expressed excitement around returning to her solo career after years of touring and performing as part of All Our Exes Live In Texas.

“[I]t’s fun and danceable, but it has its roots in a story of love and loss,” she said.

“It was cathartic to write and it will be cathartic to release and share during this moment of historic uncertainty.”

Stone’s last release was ‘When We Fall,’ the 2017 debut album from All Our Exes Live In Texas.

The album went on to receive the ARIA award for Best Blues & Roots Album later that year.

Since the band entered a hiatus period, Stone has also served as a backing vocalist and keyboardist for Missy Higgins’ touring band. A co-headlining tour with the John Butler Trio eventually saw her join that band as well, adding auxiliary keyboards, percussion and vocals.
