Guy Sebastian’s former manager found guilty of embezzlement

Day was found guilty of more than 30 charges

Guy Sebastian‘s former manager Titus Day has been found guilty of embezzling some of the singer’s earnings.

Day was arrested and charged two years ago after allegedly defrauding Sebastian of $1.15million over a seven-year period, from 2013 to 2020. He was charged with 61 counts of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception at the time.

At the recent conclusion of the almost two-month-long trial, Day was found guilty of more than 30 of those charges, but acquitted of others.

As reported by the ABC, Sebastian told the court that Day had controlled almost all of his professional affairs and contracts. Day himself denied any wrongdoing on his part and maintained that Sebastian owed him money in unpaid fees.

The trial was described as “complex and long” by Judge Tim Gartelmann SC, who thanked jurors for their ongoing service throughout multiple delays. These included the death of first judge, Peter Zahra SC, and Sebastian contracting COVID-19 during the trial. A decision on Day’s bail is expected to be made today.

The pair’s professional relationship ended in 2017 after working together for more than a decade. The following year, they launched separate lawsuits, with Sebastian claiming he was owed more than $200,000 for unpaid work, and Day claiming he was owed $800,000 in unpaid fees.

“All my income was controlled via Titus into a Trust account and after noticing some disparities in payments, I requested important financial information that I was rightfully entitled to, and upon doing so our relationship began deteriorating,” Sebastian said in a 2018 statement. “Over these last years, my integrity and reputation have been questioned, and many untruths have been publicly stated.”

“For me, this has been deeply personal and this period has been the toughest of my life.”
