Illy announces launch shows for forthcoming album ‘The Space Between’

His sixth LP drops January 15

Illy has announced his return to the live stage, locking in exclusive launch shows for January 2021 in support of his forthcoming album, ‘The Space Between’.

Dropping the news today (December 17), Illy will perform just two shows, one in Melbourne and Sydney, on Friday, January 15 and Wednesday, January 20 respectively. See full details below.

In a press release, Illy said that  “there was no way I wasn’t doing something to celebrate a release week that’s been such a long time coming, and I’m thrilled that that something will be playing live, and talking about the songs, with actual crowds. Bring on 2021.”

‘The Space Between’, Illy’s sixth LP, is set for release on January 15. The rapper has already dropped three singles from it in the lead-up to its release: ‘I Myself & Me’, ‘Cheap Seats’ and ‘Loose Ends’.

‘Cheap Seats’ saw the Melbourne rapper team up with Brisbane rockers WAAX in a track that highlighted his sonic evolution, while ‘Loose Ends’ was a collaboration with Aussie favourite G-Flip.

Illy explained the forthcoming LP ‘The Space Between’ – the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Two Degrees’ – is “all about change”.

“How much there is from one point to the next, and how those trips – not the destinations – define us,” he said.

“My music has always been about real life… relationships, parties, therapy, triumphs, breakdowns, celebrations, mourning… all of it.

“I learnt to keep it moving, but also to stop and appreciate where you’re at, because the one constant is change. I’m thankful for all of it. It all made this album.”

Tickets to ‘The Space Between’ launch shows are available from tomorrow (December 18) at 9am AEDT.

Illy’s ‘The Space Between’ launch shows are:

Friday 15 – Melbourne, 170 Russell
Wednesday 20 – Sydney, Factory Theatre
