The music festival Joyland Bali has revealed its complete line-up, which will see M.I.A. and more joining previously announced headliners Phoenix and Sigrid for its 2023 edition.

The Indonesian fest revealed its full line-up in an announcement posted on Instagram today (February 27), which also includes the addition of local acts Tulus, Reality Club, Raisa, GAC, Barasuara and NME 100 act Guernica Club.

Besides three music stages, Joyland Bali will also feature plenty of extra-musical activities. Filmmaker Ifa Isfansyah will host outdoor screenings of short films by up-and-coming directors, while Soleh Solihun will present stand-up comedy sets featuring Balinese comedians and more.

Festivalgoers hankering for a club experience can turn to the Lily Pad programme, curated by Balinese collective ORBITWARE and Jakarta duo The Secret Agents and featuring artists, DJs and producers from the Asian and Balinese diaspora.

And Joyland attendees who want to get crafty can head to a White Peacock area featuring linocut printing, face painting, finger knitting, and more workshops.

The 2022 edition of Joyland Bali featured a who’s who of Indonesian music, with Basboi, Danilla RiyadiThe SIGIT and Isyana Sarasvati among those who took the stage during the three-day event. Indonesian President Joko Widodo also made an unannounced appearance at the festival alongside his cabinet members, in a show of support for live music returning to Indonesia following the coronavirus pandemic.

Joyland Bali 2022 was the first large-scale music event to be held following the easing of public health safety measures in Indonesia, setting a high bar for festivals that would be held throughout the year in the country. In a five-star review, NME wrote: “Will the Indonesian music festivals coming after Joyland be able to reach the same heights? They should bring their A-game.”

Joyland returned to the island of Bali in 2019 following a successful run in Jakarta with events featuring the likes of Washed Out, Yves Tumor, Frankie Cosmos, Ardhito Pramono, NAIF, Hindia and more. Joyland called Jakarta home until going on hiatus after the 2013 edition of the festival.
