Larsen fire their lead singer in new video for ‘Yours Sincerely’

Starring an array of Adelaide musicians and bands

Adelaide alt-rock band Larsen have just released their latest single ‘Yours Sincerely’, and now they’ve followed it up with a subversive music video starring some other local SA acts.

Released today (December 7), the video begins with the band firing their lead singer Liam Christensen – “I’d say all the best, but I wouldn’t mean it,” one bandmate says – before taking auditions for someone to replace him.

Among those trying out for the band include members of Teenage Joans, Young Offenders, Paper Sunsets, Indiago, Ruskus, AGAPANTHER and Down & Out.

“‘Yours Sincerely’ was written about the feeling of knowing anyone can be replaced at any given moment, how no one is irreplaceable, and the motions one goes through to try and prevent that, like people-pleasing, pretending to be someone you’re not and letting people walk over you for fear of exclusion,” drummer Alex Andrews said of the song in a press statement.

“The main riff and song title pay homage to one of our favourite Adelaide bands, and one that has been inspirational to our songwriting: Sincerely, Grizzly.”

‘Yours Sincerely’ is the band’s third single of the year, following ‘Silhouette’ and a cover of Pixies’ ‘Where Is My Mind?’

Larsen will be launching the single at a forthcoming gig at Adelaide’s UniBar later this week (December 11), with support from Bitchspawn and Indiago.
