She's also announced Victorian tour dates

Jess Locke has released her first song of 2021, ‘Dead and Gone’.

The track follows on from Locke’s latest two singles, ‘Fool’ and ‘Destroy Everything’, both of which hit streaming services last year.

‘Dead and Gone’ begins in a subdued fashion, before entering into denser sonic territory later in the piece. Watch its music video below, directed by Nick Manuell.

Like its two predecessors, ‘Dead and Gone’ is set to appear on Jess Locke’s forthcoming record, ‘Don’t Ask Yourself Why’. The album, Locke’s second, hits shelves on March 26.

In a press release, Locke termed ‘Dead and Gone’ “a catharsis, a shedding of the old and an embrace of what’s to come”.

“To me, this song isn’t just about moving on and healing, it is that in itself. I wish I could say that about more songs, but I can say it about this one,” she said.

“One of my favourite moments on the record is at the end of this song, when the humble little folk tune flies off into the sky in a looping, weaving, transcendent celebration of sounds. It’s a metamorphosis in real-time.”

To celebrate her latest track’s release, Locke has announced a handful of Victorian tour dates for this month and next. Tickets are on sale now, with full details listed below.
