Listen to ‘Wake Up’, the new single from Skegss

Their third single of the year

Skegss have released ‘Wake Up’, their third single for 2020.

Following on from ‘Under The Thunder’ and ‘Fantasising’, the new track is more restrained than previous singles, comprised almost exclusively of acoustic instruments.

‘Wake Up’ arrives with an accompanying music video, directed by Jamieson Kerr (Ruby Fields, Flight To Dubai) and the band themselves. The clip follows the trio as they travel across a variety of landscapes. Watch it below:

Per a press release, the band said that ‘Wake Up’ “is about waking up to yourself instead of having excuses for things cos you’re worried it could cause more harm but it’s okay to do things for yourself you’re allowed to change your mind and not let anyone make you feel bad about it.”

In June, Skegss were among the first Australian acts to announce in-person live shows following the coronavirus outbreak.

The band played five black tie shows in their hometown of Byron Bay, selling out the Brunswick Picture House on each occasion.

More recently, Skegss released their 2015 EP, ’50 Push Ups for a Dollar’ on vinyl for the first time. The EP, which features fan favourite debut single ‘L.S.D.’, was released as a sky blue vinyl press on October 16. The band also reissued their two follow-up EPs, ‘Everyone Is Good at Something’ and ‘Holiday Food’, as a split LP.
